When I run I often think about my family and a particular conversation or event that has occurred. Most of the time I think about an immediate family member by sometimes I begin thinking of a relative that I haven’t seen in a while or recall an old memory from times long ago. Sometimes I’ll remember to call or catch up with a family member I haven’t seen or heard from recently.
Money topics can sometimes be the best things to think about when running. When you have a lot of time and very few interruptions such as when you are running, you can often think through a particular money, budget or investment idea. You can make a plan in your head while out on the road. Be sure to write your thought down quickly after you return home.

Sometimes house projects can be a burden. Often times a list of house projects can be very long and you will not know which project to get started on. Your list of house projects can be the best things to think about when running because it allows you to decide which ones are the most important. When you return home, you can then get started.

You may be thinking, why would somebody ever think of a math problem while they’re running. I say that thinking through a difficult math problem is one of the best things to think about when running because it’s one of the only times you are not distracted by other people, phones, emails, etc. If you have a particular math problem or are just analytical and want to do some long division in your head, it is a great way to pass the time while you are running.
Food is one of the best things to think about when running. As you’re burning all of those calories, you can think of all the yummy foods that you will eat afterwards to nourish yourself. You can think of different recipes you’d like to try or simply where you’d like to pick up your next meal. Let your mind wander. You may think of a food you haven’t had in a while that you can soon revisit.
