Top Ten Best Sports for Kindergarteners – Team Sports
Lacrosse is one of my favorite sports for kindergarteners. Like field hockey, in lacrosse you learn positioning & get great exercise. Learning to catch & throw a lacrosse ball and control the stick is a great skill. For kindergarten age kids, lacrosse is a great way to get them involved in a team sport & get them outdoors & running around.
Softball is one of the those sports that many kindergarten-age girls begin playing. You can join a team & learn how to throw, catch & hit the ball. Many girls play so you are bound to meet other kids & families while at the practices & games.
3. Baseball or T-Ball
Baseball and T-Ball are probably one of the most popular & best sports for kindergarteners. Kids learn to hit the ball, run the bases, throw & catch. Your kid will get some exercise & learn hand-eye coordination that may help in other sports as well. The games & practices are sometimes long so be prepared for a long season. Your kids will enjoy this team sport.
You can go into almost any gym or playground and find a basketball net. All you need is the net & ball and you can begin playing. For kids, learning to dribble, pass & shoot is a great thing. In basketball, your kindergartener will get lots of exercise running up & down the court. The great thing about basketball is your kids will usually play it in the winter when going outside may not be an option. Basketball is one of the best sports for kindergarteners.
My all time favorite best sport for kindergarteners is soccer. Boys & girls alike will enjoy running around and kicking the ball. Your kids will learn to use their feet and get great exercise. Soccer teaches kids to work together as a team to pass, score goals & defend the other team. You can play soccer almost anywhere because all you need is a ball & a grassy field. It’s no doubt that in the top ten list of the best sports for kindergarteners, soccer is the #1 pick.
So what are you waiting for… get your kindergartener out there onto a team and get them moving. Team sports are one of the best activities for kids.
